PLACE/PRAXIS II Information:

As part of the application process most DTR applicants must submit passing scores on either the PLACE or PRAXIS II, unless they meet the necessary coursework requirements for secondary mathematics or science. All potential applicants seriously considering applying for the 2011 Residency are strongly encouraged to begin scheduling potential test dates for the PLACE or PRAXIS II. Your DTR application will not be considered complete until all portions of the application are received by the DTR. This includes a passing score report for the PLACE or PRAXIS II.

  • For testing dates and to register for the PLACE exam, please go to www.place.nesinc.com
  • For testing dates and to register for the PRAXIS II exam, go to www.ets.org/praxis or call 800.772.9476.

PHASE ONE DTR APPLICATION:

For those candidates who are offered a 2011 Residency position or are placed on the waitlist for a 2011 Residency position, the application will have two phases.

All applicants will complete a Phase One application. This is an electronic application submitted only through the DTR website, which includes, among other things, a section about your personal information, educational background, university transcripts, statements of interest, and verification of a passing score for the PLACE or PRAXIS II.

All application materials for Phase One must be received by the application deadline in order to be considered.

After all Phase One applications are reviewed, a number of candidates are invited to participate in a Demonstration Day, which is comprised of a series of activities that gives participants an opportunity to demonstrate their strengths and attributes. After all the Demonstration Days have taken place, DTR will recommend a number of those candidates to submit a Phase Two application. Only those candidates who receive a DTR recommendation will advance to Phase Two.

PHASE TWO APPLICATION:

A Phase Two application consists of submitting an online application to the University of Denver's Morgridge College of Education, which includes a short online form, as well as a $60 application fee. Only those candidates who receive a recommendation from DTR to submit a Phase Two application will be considered for a 2011 Residency position.
