Andrew Fraser

This is an adventure unlike any I’ve previously undertaken.

My name is Andrew Fraser, and I’m a 29 year-old Colorado native. I grew up in Littleton, CO and later went on to attend college at Fort Lewis in Durango, CO, where I enjoyed the mountain sports just as much as my higher education. I’ve always been a thrill-seeker, constantly looking for greater challenges and unexplored terrain in search of new experience and excitement.

My French degree led me to Switzerland after college, where I worked as a camp counselor and ski instructor, and later I tried my hand at Spanish and found myself guiding college semesters abroad throughout Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador. After several years of global exploration I wandered my way back home and have most recently made a living as a yoga instructor and pedicab (bike taxi) driver in Denver. While I’ve enjoyed the ride, I decided it was time to apply my skills and experience to a meaningful career that could serve my local community, and thus began my relationship with the Denver Teacher Residency.

I am now training to teach in a 2nd grade class at Archuleta Elementary, where I can identify with the challenges faced by the young English learners I serve. I love speaking Spanish with them in the classroom every day. My hope is to take my world travel experience and exposure to different cultures and share the many perspectives with the young learners in my class. Perhaps, they too, will be inspired to capitalize on their own love of learning and seek out new adventures of their own…
