What is the DTR Employee Referral Program?
The referral program provides financial incentives to DTR Residents and DPS Employees who refer qualified applicants who are selected into the Denver Teacher Residency.
What is the goal of the DTR Referral program?
To increase the pool of quality applicants to the Denver Teacher Residency program. Almost 25% of our current residents were referrals from a friend, family member, or colleague.
How much is the referral incentive?
The incentive amounts vary and are aligned with the recruiting goals for the program, which are determined by Denver Public Schools in conjunction with teacher talent management projections and Hard-to-Staff positions.
- $250 for referring a fluent bilingual Spanish-speaking ELA-S or Special Education candidate (as confirmed by a Spanish language proficiency test), Secondary Math, or Secondary Science candidate into the program by the Priority Deadline (Oct. 19, 2012); $200 by the Final Deadline (Feb. 15, 2013).
- $150 for referring an ELA-E or Special Education candidate into the program by the Priority Deadline (Oct. 19, 2012); $100 by the Final Deadline (Feb. 15, 2013).
- There is a lifetime maximum referral earning opportunity of $1,000.
Who is eligible for the referral incentive?
The referral program is available to current DTR residents and DPS employees. Denver Teacher Residency program staff, University of Denver employees, and members of the DTR application and Demonstration Day selection committees are ineligible for the Denver Teacher Residency Referral Program.
The referrer must be a DTR resident in good standing or an employee of DPS at the time of incentive payout.
How does the referral program work?
The referral program coincides with the application timeline (DTR application is open from August through February). The applicant must name the referrer in his/her application at the time of submission.
The referred applicant must be selected to participate in DTR and start as a resident in order for the incentive to be paid to the referrer. Incentive is paid to referrer within 60 days of the University of Denver Morgridge College of Education receives his/her DTR program deposit.
