The Denver Teacher Residency program would not be possible without the generous and consistent support of our public, private and community partners.

The Janus Education Alliance, a partnership of the Janus Foundation and Denver Public Schools, is a visionary enterprise created to accelerate student achievement by attracting and retaining world-class teachers and investing in them at the most critical stages of their careers – the early years. Through a variety of cutting-edge initiatives, the Janus Education Alliance hopes to lead the nation in implementing strategies for training, developing and inspiring the best educators. The Denver Teacher Residency is a core strategic component of the Janus Education Alliance.

Coursework for the Denver Teacher Residency is developed and taught in partnership with the University of Denver’s Morgridge College of Education, an accredited university committed to improving the Denver community by providing distinctive learning opportunities, research support and innovative collaborations.

The Morgridge College of Education strives to be a global leader in innovative and effective approaches for promoting learning throughout the lifespan. Transcending traditional ideas about education and schooling, the College embraces a new, comprehensive vision of learning as a lifelong activity that involves the whole person and can occur through a variety of methods, anywhere and at any time. MCE promotes educational change and social equity and provides leadership for the improvement of education, mental health and information services and systems.

Denver Teacher Residency is member of Urban Teacher Residency United, created to exchange best practices, share programmatic innovations and promote the concept of residency-based teacher preparation at state and federal government levels.

Urban Teacher Residency United (UTRU) emerged as a collective effort to launch and support high-functioning Residency programs in high-needs urban districts. The success of the network can be attributed to a shared set of core values — through the open exchange of feedback, results and innovations, UTRU and its partner programs are setting the standard for urban teacher preparation nationwide.
