2010-2011 Residency Teaching at McGlone Elementary, 5th Grade
Matt joined the Denver Teacher Residency after a successful career as a retail manager. As a former inner city youth from Chicago, he experienced firsthand the challenges of students in an urban atmosphere. Unfortunately, many of the same challenges he experienced during his youth await inner city youth today, including poverty, secondary English language learners, and “hard to serve schools.” These were all obstacles that he’s overcome and has been able to take advantage of many opportunities because of the education he received. He decided to dedicate his profession to providing inner city youth with an education that can help them become better citizens, and better students.
Matt is excited to share the same education he received with inner city youth, so they may also overcome obstacles, and take advantage of opportunities they never dreamed of having.
