2010-2011 Residency
Completing residency at Cole Arts & Science Academy, Secondary Special Education

I moved to Denver about two years ago from Atlanta. I graduated college with a degree in Industrial Engineering and worked in the logistics field before following my dream of becoming a teacher. I currently mentor youth that are at risk for dropping out of high school in the Denver area. Working with these youth made me realize teaching in urban communities was my passion.

I found the Denver Teacher Residency through searching “ways to be a teacher in Denver.” This program popped up, I attended an information session, and I knew it was the best program for me. I love DTR’s passion for closing the achievement gap in Denver and wanted to be a direct part of that. The program’s mission aligns with my personal goals, so it seemed like the perfect fit. DTR is more than a five-year commitment for me, and it’s a great start to my career in helping students reach their potential.

I get excited about working with my mentor teacher and am learning what it is really like to be a teacher. I can’t wait to get my own classroom, but know it will be even more rewarding after completing this excellent training.
