Lindsay Kelly – Gust Elementary, 3rd Grade

I've always wanted to teach because it highlighted my best strengths and it feels good to give back. When I'm not learning about teaching I like to get my hands dirty in the garden or visit National Parks with my boyfriend Doug and dogs LuLu and Sam. I think the most effective way to learn is by doing and the Denver Teacher Residency is a hands-on approach to beginning my career as a teacher. I like the coaching, and the support we get as Residents is world-class. Also, we start flexing our newly toned teaching muscles immediately as we build them stronger and stronger. I am excited about helping my students to understand new concepts and helping to close the current achievement gap.
